This was a live brief for a construction company.

editorial project

Here i have designed a front cover, 2 double page spreads and a contents page for a magazine.I wanted the magazine to look appealing and classy. I didn't want it too look to compact and busy.I got some good ideas from looking at other magazines and also found things that i didn't like.

say no to clip art

This was a small brief to create a product to campaign against something of your choice.

I created 8 postcards to be passed out around schools to help advertise saying no to clipart and used  a different way to create images.

The Typographic Circle.

This brief was set up by Pentagram for the company The Typographic Circle.

As a supplement to it’s magazine, ‘Circular’, The Circle asked for us to produce a series of special books/publications on specific people who have given talks for The Circle. The publications can be of any size & format but should work as a series. They did not have to be like a magazine but should be thought of as books or ‘special editions’.

The style of the publications could NOT be a copy or pastiche of the designer you feature. But should be a distinct & original typographic solution that would sit well with the other material the Circle has produced.

I looked at 3 designers that had given talks for The Circle.
The size is A3.
The tittle of my special books will be embossed so they are not just a visual impact from the size but an experience to touch.

PRECIOUS CARGO - ‘Stories of the World’

‘Stories of the World’ is part of the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad, and aims to
showcase to a worldwide audience innovation and excellence in museums, libraries and
archives. The project is led by the MLA (Museums, Libraries, and, Archives) in
partnership with the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympics
Games (LOCOG).

In the spirit of the London 2012 Games, Stories of the World will seek to welcome the
world to Britain by using our rich collections to tell inspirational stories about the
UK's relationships with the world. Young people are at the heart of the project, working
in partnership with curators to uncover objects that tell stories that resonate with their
interests.

25 objects were chosen from across the collections. These objects have travelled to Hull Museums from five continents as listed below, or demonstrate their links to the ‘Stories of the World’ theme.

I used the object Ancient Egyptian Wooden Funerary Boat c. 1990BC
The model is from a group that was found in the coffin of a courtier in Tomb 275. Model funerary boats were placed in the Middle Kingdom Egyptian graves to transport the deceased in the afterlife.

I looked deeper in to the ancient egyptian afterlife and discovered a huge variety of individual patterns that are used in graves. Each pattern is individual to each person and they are all beautiful and unique. I got inspiration from the patterns and created my own.
